There is a picture here of Amanda at Starbucks! There is one just around the corner from ABT and she often goes there at lunch with her friends! New York City has a lot of Starbucks--which is great! Quite a far cry from Tuscaloosa where the only Starbucks we ever found was inside the Super Target!
While Amanda was busy at ABT, I was also having an interesting day! I decided that I needed to go to the grocery store, so I hobbled to Whole Foods, which is about six blocks away. On my way out the door of our apartment building, I noticed a piece of paper laying on the floor--upon closer inspection I noticed that Amanda's name was on the paper--it was a notification from the post office that a package was waiting for her at the post office! I wasn't quite sure where the post office was, but the address was on the back, so I was able to figure it out.
So the day ended up being filled with a lot of walking--first to Whole Foods and then back home and then back again in the same direction--only further--it was about .6 miles to the post office from our apartment--certainly not bad under normal circumstances, but quite a distance when you are hobbling. I was hoping for a "light" package for obvious reasons! I texted Amanda about her package and she was very excited about it!
The birthday package was mailed from Houston from her pas partner last year and also from another good friend from Houston! After she arrived home at the end of the day, she had a lot of fun opening the box! It contained a lot of yummy treats, a magazine, nail polish, hand soap, a water gun (which hopefully she won't use on her roommate this year, ha), a "Don't Mess With Texas" key ring and other thoughtful gifts.
They also put in a child's play tiara complete with pink jewels and very ostentatious and large matching pink earrings and necklace. Amanda thought it was funny and cute and appreciated her Houston friends thinking about her!
We had a very nice relaxing evening and ate in tonight as tomorrow night we will be going to Lincoln Center to see Romeo and Juliet--we are looking forward to that!
We thought you might enjoy seeing this picture of our street here in New York City! It is very pretty and relatively quiet! We are near FedEx, in case you are wondering why there are always FedEx trucks in our photos!
Thanks for reading the blog--
